Our Story
Walter Ormsby and Andrew Bishop founded Findatruckload in 2009 after recognising the inefficiencies of the transport industry due to the empty movements of trucks and containers throughout New Zealand. Based on the firm belief that minimising the number of trucks running empty would create efficiencies for all parties within the freight and transport industries, their aim was to also reduce carbon emissions.
They believed that technology was the key to providing transport solutions through the establishment of a completely independent online marketplace, supported by a dedicated team.
In 2016, Findalift was born to make the delivery of materials to building sites more efficient. Operating a series of all-terrain forklifts, Findalift can unload trucks and place materials on-site where needed, preventing the need to arrange a hiab and incur extra costs.
In 2019, ContainerBase was established to manage containers and freight in and out of Southland. Strategically positioned and connected to Kiwi Rail, this has provided importers and exporters flexibility with shipments. ContainerBase has expanded to offer container sales and hire, modifications, and storage.
In 2021, they acquired Mainland Logistics, a company specialising in coastal shipping in New Zealand. Mainland was created to provide customers access to more shipping lines (including international vessels), greater equipment choice and availability, and smarter ways to reuse equipment for operational and financial gains.
In 2026, these companies merged to create CoLoad — Freight Smarter Together. By integrating road, rail, and sea into one cohesive, multi-modal network, we provide a unified solution for the New Zealand supply chain.
